Any colour can be considered for short nails. The practical design issue is whether the detail remains readable on the available surface.
Scale the motif
Try one small dot, a narrow tip or a simple curve before a dense pattern. A full-colour manicure is also a complete design choice.
Preview at actual size
Reduce the reference to roughly the size of the nail. If the important detail disappears, simplify it before choosing additional products.
